If you proudly share a house or apartment with one or more cats, chances are you want your precious pet to live a long and healthy life. In addition to getting the basics of diet, exercise, and safety right (basically, do the opposite of the cartoon Garfield), there are many cat longevity products out there that aim to increase your cat’s lifespan.
We’ve taken the time to explore some of them, and this comprehensive list of the top nine cat longevity products is a resource you can use to discover options that may keep that furry feline of yours not only healthy but also happy, energetic, and curious for many years to come.
Our list features cat nutrition products, including longevity cat food and joint care for cats products, as well as cat supplements, and some more unconventional cat health products like pet insurance. As always, we are highlighting high-quality, science-backed products that generally have research showing at least healthspan-, if not lifespan-, extending effects.
Without further ado, here is our top nine list—one product to extend each of the nine lives your cat possesses. Let’s get started!

1. PET NMN Longevity Chews for Cats
These pet longevity chews, flavored to taste like natural chicken and chicken liver, contain two ingredients that may benefit your cat’s health: liposomal NMN and fish oil.
Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fish oil can reduce chronic inflammation, which is a hallmark of aging among both people and their pets. Fish oil also improves cardiovascular health, strengthens the immune system, and promotes skin/coat health.
Working in combination with fish oil is an ingredient known as NMN, a naturally occurring compound that is a precursor to NAD+. NAD+ is a critical molecule involved in many cellular processes. Just like with humans, as cats age, their NAD+ levels decline. NMN supplements can help restore NAD+ levels and improve cellular function, which can potentially slow your cat’s aging process.
Several animal studies have shown NMN can increase lifespan in aging models, and researchers also found that the anti-aging benefits of NMN include improving metabolism, reducing inflammation, and enhancing physical function.
PET NMN Longevity Chews for Cats by RENUE by Science are manufactured using cold extrusion, which theoretically preserves the maximum nutrient potency of these ingredients and may make them more effective.
2. Pure Pet Chews (Use code “LONGEVITYADVICE” for 10% off)
Similar to the product above, the Pure Pet Chews available from DoNotAge utilize a combination of tested ingredients designed to improve cat longevity. These pet chews contain 100mg of pure NMN and 130mg of a proprietary SIRT6 activator; the latter is a product derived from seaweed. Described as a highly “bioavailable longevity formula,” Pure Pet Chews also feature Pure Hyaluronic Acid, Boswellia, MSM, and Vitamin E, all of which are speculated to boost NAD levels; support brain and cognitive health; aid in DNA repair, and more.
If you’re still curious about NMN in regard to cat nutrition and cat longevity, we encourage you to read the 2023 review, “Role and Potential Mechanisms of Nicotinamide Mononucleotide in Aging,” published in the journal “Aging and Disease,” which notes that, “in model organisms, ingestion of NMN has been shown to improve age-related diseases and probably delay death.”
3. Embrace Pet Insurance
Let’s say your beloved cat experiences a health emergency. Diagnostic tests reveal, for example, that a mass needs to be surgically removed in order to save your cat’s life. In a worst-case scenario, you don’t have pet insurance and you must pay thousands of dollars for the surgery and all its related expenses. This is where having solid pet insurance comes in—by selecting a pet insurance plan that’s tailored to your pet’s age, gender, and breed, you can rest easy knowing that if you incur pet-related medical expenses, you should be covered by the plan you’ve selected.
I can personally vouch for the pet insurance option we’ve selected here—Embrace—as it’s the same one we use for our dog, Kipling. Anyone familiar with Kipling’s penchant for eating beer koozies and socks, which then cause intestinal blockages and require expensive surgeries to remove, will know we’ve had more than our fair share of vet visits the past three years. And while routine annual checkups are not covered by Embrace, the big, expensive surgeries have been. With some occasional delays, Embrace has been really good about paying out for Kipling’s vet bills and has saved us literally thousands of dollars. More importantly, it’s allowed us to decide what’s best for him based on his health needs, rather than our current bank account.
A comprehensive insurance plan increases your cat’s longevity by providing your furry pal with prompt and all-inclusive veterinary care. Embrace Pet Insurance can make a huge difference in your cat’s overall health and wellness, not to mention protect you from incurring fees that can cause you financial stress.
According to Forbes Advisor, “For households with cats, average annual vet costs increased 70% from 2020 to 2022, from $189 to $321.” Another interesting statistic? “Over a third (35%) of pet owners said they delayed an annual vet visit due to cost.” You can avoid delay of care and keep your cat safe and healthy by “embracing” the idea of pet insurance.
4. Wisdom Panel Complete for Cats
You’re probably well aware that we humans can undergo genetic testing for health to identify the risks of developing diseases and chronic conditions. But did you know that genetic testing is also available for our feline companions?
Feline genetic testing allows you to gain incredible insights into your cat’s DNA, which will give you information about potential health predispositions so you can increase the longevity of your cat’s life. Wisdom Panel Complete for Cats is advertised as the world’s most comprehensive cat DNA test; it comes complete with a full breed report and extensive health insights. The results of this DNA test can improve cat longevity by giving you accurate genetic information that can help you make well-informed decisions about how you feed and care for your cat year-round. Your cat’s test results, for example, might influence you to invest in healthy cat food brands, joint care for cats supplements, and other products that can help your cat age gracefully.
In a 2010 review, “Feline genetics: clinical applications and genetic testing,” author Leslie A. Lyons writes,
“Approximately 33 genes contain 50 mutations that cause feline health problems or alterations in the cat’s appearance. A variety of commercial laboratories can now perform cat genetic diagnostics, allowing both the veterinary clinician and the private owner to obtain DNA test results. DNA is easily obtained from a cat via a buccal swab with a standard cotton bud or cytological brush, allowing DNA samples to be easily sent to any laboratory in the world. The DNA test results identify carriers of the traits, predict the incidence of traits from breeding programs, and influence medical prognoses and treatments. An overall goal of identifying these genetic mutations is the correction of the defect via gene therapies and designer drug therapies. Thus, genetic testing is an effective preventative medicine and a potential ultimate cure.”
Lyons emphasizes an important point here: DNA collection for cats is easy, and you can feel good knowing that you’re not only helping your own cat but also contributing to the greater good of felines worldwide.
5. Cat Longevity 3-Part Protocol by Vitality Science (Use code “longevityadvice” for 10% off)
Included in this cat diet protocol are three distinct products: Super Food, Pet Flora, and Super Pet Enzymes, and you can choose the small or the large based on your cat’s needs. Developed to provide joint care for cats, this protocol may also boost their energy levels, strengthen their immune system, and improve their gastrointestinal health. The ingredients used in these cat nutrition products include essential fatty acids (tuna oil), sulfur-bearing proteins, soil-based probiotics, enzymes, and antioxidants, all of which may promote your cat’s short-term and long-term health.
A 2007 study in the Journal of Applied Research in Veterinary Medicine, “Effect of Nutritional Interventions on Longevity of Senior Cats” concludes, “Results from this study suggest that a diet supplemented with a combination of antioxidants, prebiotic, and long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, at specifically formulated levels, can increase lifespan in senior cats.”
This article highlights the need to purchase healthy cat food and supplements containing well-researched, science-backed ingredients. Vitality Science’s cat longevity 3-part protocol may just put you well on your way to doing that.
6. Cat Mix by Life Extension
We’ve looked at Life Extension before, when covering their array of a la carte blood tests, but they also produce a bewildering array of supplements, for both humans and pets. Life Extension’s Cat Mix takes into account the carnivorous nature of cats and the unique nutritional needs that they need as part of a healthy and satisfying diet.
According to Dr. Deb Zoran, a professor at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, “Feline diets are a lot different than human diets. Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they require meat in their diet and need little carbohydrates.”
Cat Mix makes up for the essential nutritional needs that your cat might not be getting from their regular diet alone. Ingredients such as taurine promote the health of vital organs, including your cat’s heart, kidneys, and eyes, while arginine supports heart, kidney, and pancreatic function. B vitamins are also featured in this mix in order to improve cardiovascular health. Like other healthy cat food products and supplements that made our top nine list, Life Extension is committed to using only high-quality ingredients and offering full transparency into how and where those ingredients are sourced.
7. Longevity for Cats: A Holistic, Individualized Approach to Helping Your Feline Friend Live Longer and Healthier
There are plenty of longevity books out there for humans, but rather fewer when it comes to cats and dogs (I’ve been reliably informed it’s because they can’t read).
Luckily, this 256-page book, published in August 2023 by renowned veterinarian Dr. Gary Richter, aims to fill that gap (he’s also written a Longevity for Dogs book which we’ll cover in due time). Dr. Richter writes with a style that cat owners will find friendly and approachable; topics include the cutting-edge science behind longevity and how you can adopt ways to make your cat live a longer life. Dr. Richter focuses on cat longevity in terms of both “lifespan” and “healthspan.” You want to prolong not just your cat’s life, but also their healthy and active years.
Reading this book (even though your cat can’t) can hopefully inspire you to try the personalized diet and exercise plans, supplements, herbs, and other cat longevity ideas that he shares throughout the text. As Joseph Addison—an English essayist and poet—said: “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.”
8. NODENS Cat Hip and Joint Glucosamine Supplement
Made in the USA from 100% pure and human-grade ingredients, NODENS Cat Hip and Joint supplement comes in liquid form. It contains glucosamine, chondroitin, hyaluronic acid, and an opti-MSM combination; these ingredients help your cat maintain healthy joints, ligaments, and cartilage so he or she can keep moving around with ease and grace. What makes this powerful supplement appealing in terms of joint care for cats is how absorbable it is and how easy it is to administer (just mix this supplement with your cat’s daily meal).
Joint care for cats becomes especially important as cats age. The aging process can cause joint inflammation; senior cats can even be diagnosed with conditions such as osteoarthritis and degenerative joint disease. Giving your cat joint support by way of this supplement could increase his or her overall mobility, which can keep your cat active and decrease the likelihood of your cat becoming overweight.
And while joint care isn’t a particularly sexy topic, a 2020 population study (which, as a warning, is not as good as a randomized controlled trial, and can only show causation, not correlation) found that for humans, long-term glucosamine supplementation may be as effective as exercise at reducing mortality. What is true for humans may also be true for cats, and some research suggests this is the case.
For instance, a 2021 meta analysis of animal studies on glucosamine found that, “Regarding the cartilage status and biomarkers, positive responses were identified in approximately half of the evaluated articles. Furthermore, beneficial effects were associated with the pre-emptive administrations, higher doses and multimodality approaches with some combined therapies.”
In addition, a 2011 study on giving glucosamine to cats with urinary tract disease-caused idiopathic cystitis showed it can significantly raise glycosaminoglycan levels, which may help prevent and cure idiopathic cystitis.
9. TEEF for Life: Protektin30 for Cats
Our carefully curated selection of cat longevity products encompasses a range of products designed to cater to cat joint health, cat heart health, and cat immune health, just to name a few. But what about your cat’s dental health? We know teeth health is an important component of human longevity, so it shouldn’t be surprising the same would be true of cats.
In a 2021 study published in the peer-reviewed journal, Animals, and titled “Dental Problems and Prophylactic Care in Cats—Knowledge and Perceptions among Swedish Cat Owners and Communication by Veterinary Care Staff,” the authors make clear that cats—just like humans—can experience a wide range of dental problems. The authors write,
“Dental problems are common in cats. For example, periodontal disease was the single most prevalent diagnosis-level disorder in cats based on clinic data in the UK. Furthermore, a survey among pure breed cat owners in Finland reported that dental and oral diseases were the most prevalent disease category in cats (prevalence 28%), and dental calculus and gingivitis were the most prevalent clinical signs reported both in all cats and in most of the breeds. A variety of dental problems can be reversed and controlled with proper treatment and adequate dental care at home. The combination of veterinary examination and professional dental cleaning, together with daily dental home care, is the foundation for good dental health.”
TEEF for Life: Protektin30 serves as a daily dental care regimen that you can easily add to your cat’s drinking water.
Keeping your cat’s teeth strong and healthy can prevent them from experiencing dental problems now and in the future. This “human-grade” prebiotic powder contains soluble fiber, vitamin B6, chlorella, and amino acids; these results-driven ingredients target the root cause of gum disease and aim to balance your cat’s oral microbiome.

We’ve written all about biological age tests for humans, and their importance in tracking whether your longevity interventions are actually having a positive impact, but what if you could do the same with your cat?
Steve Horvath, the rockstar scientist behind the first epigenetic age clock for humans, has been working with his Clock Foundation, and their consumer spinoff organization, MyAgingTests, to develop a biological age test not just for specific animals like dogs and cats, but a universal one for all mammalian species.
While the test is not yet available, (unlike their dog biological age test) you can currently pre-order it at the MyAgingTests site. With such a test you can see just how healthy your cat is compared to its chronological age, and see if any of the cat longevity products we mentioned above are actually helping to prolong your cat’s healthspan and lifespan.
What are your favorite cat longevity products?
